Saint Mary’s University, in partnership with the University of Antwerp in Belgium, is looking at how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed a specific part of our daily lives: eating. The Coronavirus Cooking Survey is a large-scale international survey to study the impact of COVID-19 on how people deal with food and food-related media. Dr. Maryanne Fisher, Professor of Psychology at Saint Mary’s and part of the study’s project team, has joined researchers from more than 30 countries to conduct the research. “This is a really exciting project to be involved with for many reasons,” said Dr. Fisher. “Academics around the world have very quickly come together to explore one of the most basic parts of our daily life: eating.” The study also assesses changes in buying, cooking, and eating habits and in Belgium received over 6,000 respondents in less than two weeks.
